Bangor Nursery School Celebrates 80 years!

10th Jun 2022

Bangor Central Nursery School started in 1942 as Bangor Nursery School in a Nissen Hut where the current Police Station stands.  This year we celebrate our 80th birthday.  Celebrations began on 10th June with an Afternoon Tea Birthday party.  Guests invited included current and previous staff and governors, representatives from neighbouring schools, the Educations Authority, CCEA, the Integrated Education Fund, local politicians (Alliance Party MLAs Andrew Muir and Connie Egan) and the Mayor of North Down and Ards Borough Council, Karen Douglas.

Guests enjoyed sandwiches, scones and traybakes from local suppliers in the Garden Room of the school; where they were able to catch up with each other as well as read a little bit more about the history of the school through our archive displays.  Mrs McCullough spent a lot of time, care and effort to digitise our archive of photos, newspaper articles and roll books to display as well as preserve our school's story.

A massive thank-you to all the staff who made the event happen.  Everyone had a lovely afternoon and all agreed that the next chapter in the life of the school will be an exciting one as we are due to open as Bangor Integrated Nursery School in September 2022.
